Promotion to COO: Setting Yourself (and the Company) for the Win

If you’re getting promoted into a COO position you should consider everything that you would when interviewing for a new role. It’s prudent to approach compensation, role spec, negotiation, pre-severance negotiation just like you would if you were joining a new company. Just because you were successful in your prior role, it doesn’t mean you’ll be successful in this new one. Take the time to handle the promotion well to make sure that you protect yourself and the company. It’s only fair.
